The Sponge Brush is one of the products you will receive in the sensory toolbox. It assists with decreasing tactile defensiveness as well as increasing body awareness and sensory integration.
This product is beneficial to both tactile seeking and tactile avoiding children. When used with or under instruction from an Occupational Therapist, the Sponge Brush can desensitise tactile defensive children. As the child gets more used to the feeling of the brush stroking their skin, their tactile defensiveness and anxiety decreases.
It can also be used for patients who are tactile seeking as both sides can be stroked across their skin. One side of is made from sponge while the other features soft, dense bristles. In settings where the child is experiencing feelings of anxiety or worry, this product offers a calming and soothing feeling.
Please note that we can not administer a treatment program without a therapy session. Therefore it is best to talk to your Occupational Therapist if you have any questions.
